About the Opportunity
As the Return to Work Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting injured and ill workers through a safe, timely, and suitable return to the workplace. You will coordinate and manage the Return to Work program, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, disability management best practices, and collective agreements. In partnership with Payroll and Benefits, you will help ensure all employee programs are administered effectively and equitably. Additionally, you will foster a culture of health and safety by developing, maintaining, and delivering training and procedures that support continuous improvement and align with the organization's strategic goals, vision, and mission.
Job Responsibilities
- Collect medical documentation from workers, collaborate with medical professionals
- Facilitate the Return to Work Program
- Track incidents and near misses to identify and analyze trends
- Provide analytics in relation to injury claims and return to work
- Facilitate investigations with serious injuries, reporting to Safe Work Manitoba
- Develop initiatives on injury prevention and safe workplace practices
- Develop and review Safe Operating and Safe Work Procedures
- Develop & deliver training related to the Return to Work Program and Safety and Health
- Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and leadership
- Perform regular assessments that measure the programs performance
- Act as a member of the Safety and Health committee, ensure all members meet training requirements
- Assist Payroll in managing short term and long term disability programs, acting as a liaison, and facilitating a safe and suitable return to work
- Provide front desk relief as needed and other duties and projects as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Educational Background in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field
- A minimum of one year of experience working in Human Resources
- Direct experience with injury claims, Functional Abilities Forms (FAF), Accommodation Plans, Short Term and Long Term Disability claims management is an asset
- Good working knowledge of Workers Compensation legislation, Occupational Health and Safety regulations, Duty to Accommodate, Human Rights Code, PHIA and FIPPA.
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS, and/or database platforms
- Knowledge and experience in Privacy and Confidentiality
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
Job Requirements
- Upon offer of employment, the candidate must be able to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
- The candidate must have a Valid Manitoba Class 5F Driver’s License

- Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
- Full time hours: 37.5 hours per week
